Defending Couva Senior Calypso Monarch Victoria “Queen Victoria” Cooper aims to retain her crown in 2012.

 

Defending Couva Calypso (Senior) Monarch Victoria “Queen Victoria” Cooper will be pulling out all stops to keep her crown at the finals of the Couva Carnival Committee (CCC) calypso competition at Carnival Centre, Couva Car Park, tomorrow night. Cooper, who made the semifinals of the National Calypso Monarch Competition, will sing in position number 12, offering her hard-hitting political commentary, PP Cuff U.
 
Meanwhile, CCC chairman Ramchand Rajbal Maraj appealed to mas bandleaders to register their bands and individuals as soon as possible for Carnival Monday and Tuesday at Railway Road, Couva. He can be contacted at 354-4093. Defending Couva Junior Calypso Monarch Aaron Duncan is the hot favourite to retain his crown. Duncan, who has been sweeping a number of competitions this year, will sing his popular calypso, Ah Learning, at the junior finals which will also be held tomorrow. • See Page B32
