Creativity, vibrancy jazz up Moruga Carnival

The overflow of colour, creativity, and costumes came alive during the Carnival celebrations in Moruga/Tableland. hairman of the Moruga/Tableland Carnival Improvement Committee and MP, Clifton De Coteau, regarded this year’s exhibition as a release of vibrancy and an unleashing of the creative potential of the constituents. The Kiddies Carnival Competition took place on February 15, with participation from schools throughout the constituency. On February 18 the committee hosted the Carnival and Queen Show competitions.
 
The Calypso Monarch was copped  by 2011’s winner, Queen Victoria, while the Carnival Queen 2012 title went to Miss Marac, Melissa Aguilleira. The first runner-up was Miss Fifth Company, Makeeda Weekes. During the evening’s events, MP De Coteau revealed to the crowd that according to recent research, the constituency was home to the world’s hottest pepper—the Moruga scorpion. The celebrations continued with J’Ouvert, Monday night mas and the stick-fighting finals. 
Carnival Tuesday brought the concept of last lap to another level. The beauty, fascination of colour, and the unity that Carnival brings brought most of Moruga/Tableland to the streets of Moruga.
