Many had the wrong impression that with the passing of Carnival 2012 there would be no soca excitement until next year’s festival. But, on the Friday of Spiritual Baptist Liberation Day holiday, Countrie Bookie Entertainment (CBE) proved them wrong with the start of its 2012 Point Fortin Borough Day celebrations. Over 400 patrons boarded the Coral Vision sea vessel and revelled in the “party til yuh drop” atmosphere as the company launched its Welcome to South Beach Miami (WSBM) series of events.

The excursion/boat ride entitled— Duty Free 18/18—saw landlubbers from Point Fortin, La Brea, Siparia and San Fernando having a great time, joined by soca stars Iwer George and Kimba Sorzano. From as early as 10 am the fun began as music blasted from maxi taxis until boarding time from the Water Taxi Terminal in Port-of-Spain. However, the real  party action commenced when boarding began at 2 pm with passengers dancing to the music of DJs Rapid Response, Duane and Killer B, Sky Maxx and Joe Grind.
Now a familiar face on television, Sorzano further stirred up the crowed with a cameo performance of his hit single—Over You.

According to Countrie Bookie Entertainment Events manager Rick Davis, the concept of his outfit’s celebrations is for members of his Borough band to experience the fun of partying on South Beach, Miami. He added that CBE has a number of fun events planned, all culminating on the May 5 Point Fortin Borough Day celebrations. In the wake of the March 30 cruise, CBE continues its WSBM series with a motorcade on April 13, which is geared at publicising their Borough Day 2010 J’Ouvert band. Members of its committee will drive through the streets of Point Fortin with music trucks, stopping at bars and other destinations, distributing flyer and registration forms.

Next will be the Miami Dade Rave on April 15, at Club Rehab, located on the Point Fortin Main Road. This will be the actual formal launch of the CBE masquerade band at which it will showcase models in bikinis, tankinis and monokini-type costumes. Davis explained that this event will be exclusive to members and will be held simultaneously with the launch of the band in New York. Patrons both local and abroad will be able to view each event as it they be connected via Skype. From this Davis said he will return to Trinidad and Tobago with his crew from New York who will also be featured in the CBE band through the streets of the Southern Borough.
