Established since 1989, the People of Praise Community (POP), is staging an original gospel musical production that will incorporate drama, dance, and even some of the community’s own original music. It will take place at the Daaga Hall Auditorium, UWI, St Augustine, on Saturday, May 5, at 8 pm, and Sunday, May 6, at 6 pm. POP is a non-profit organisation based in this Santa Rosa parish. POP exists to foster goodwill by reaching out to others, especially youth and young adults through seminars, workshops, retreats, counseling, development programmes, prayer and music ministry. Due to the overwhelming response to a POP production done in July 2011, POP leaders have been mandated by God's people to do it once more.
Many viewers connected in such a real way to some of the characters, like Maria and Fredericks, who epitomised some of the heart-wrenching realities and issues plaguing our society today. The leaders believe this production will compel an audience to examine their lives and make a positive change which in the long run, in the hope that it will affect our nation. It also serves as an opportunity for the POP music ministry and youth group to hone their talent while being a witness for God. Adult tickets for the gospel concert are priced at $100 and children $50 (these tickets are limited). To reserve tickets, call 667-1544 at the House of Praise. Tickets can also be purchased at the Santa Rosa Bookshop in Arima, or The Sanctuary of the Holy Family, in Diego Martin, or from any member of the POP community.
