Arts-in-Action, will host 50/25, an original performance put on by Wordsmiths, featuring UWI’s Festival Dance Ensemble, on July 5, at 7 pm at the Learning Resource Centre (LRC), University of the West Indies, St Augustine. This performance is part of the Wordsmiths involvement in the Contacting the World Festival which will take place from July 8-15 in Manchester, England. A contribution of $50 or more is being asked and can be made at the door. All proceeds go towards offsetting the cost of travel. Contacting the World is an international Youth Theatre Festival, hosted by Contact Theatre in Manchester, England and aims to develop the theatre skills of young theatre-makers across the globe. It facilitates its objectives by twinning a UK theatre company with a non-European one. This year, the Wordsmiths will be twinned with the host company, Contact Young Actors Company of Manchester, England.  Through guided workshops on improvisation, acting technique and writing, the Wordsmiths have created 50/25, which will be shown at the festival in Manchester.
