Chaguanas contestant wins Mastana Bahar

Reshma Ramlal of Chaguanas won the seventh preliminary round of Mastana Bahar last week. Ramlal impressed the judges with her rendition of an Ela Arun folk song. Placing second was singer Xavier Pouchet of Tunapuna, while saxophonist Stein Ramkaran placed third. The fourth prize was won by Mark John Williams of El Dorado, the fifth prize went to Lornetta Ramlal-Jan of Mayaro and the sixth prize went to Nisha Ramsook of Bamboo Settlement. Kamla Maharaj, Ramtahal Ramharack, Stanley Ramlal, Beesham Kallicharan, Kavita Ramlogan, Babby Seeram, Rawle Motilal, Savita Singh, Sharda’s School of Dance, Premnath Singh, Dhanraj Gunnes and The Surasti Dance Group have been selected to appear on the eight preliminary round of competition. The programme will be recorded on Thursday 12 from 5.30 pm at the Rampersad Brothers ranch, Raju Trace, San Francique Village, Penal. The jackpot for the Pick-A-Pan contest this week is $4,150. Music will be provided by the Rampersad Brothers Orchestra of Penal. The recording session is free to the public.
