Vanessa Hudgens opens up about split from Zac Efron

Vanessa Hudgens is opening up about her split from longtime boyfriend Zac Efron, saying it was the couple’s busy schedules which made it difficult to maintain their relationship. “When you don’t have face-to-face time, it’s just different. Having an iPhone helped, but it wasn’t the same,” the 22-year-old beauty said in the new issue of Shape magazine.

“Long-distance relationships are hard no matter what,” Vanessa added. The couple, who met on the set of “High School Musical” in 2005 and eventually split in December 2010, grew up together and were by each other’s side to watch one another’s career blossom. “It was nice to have someone to share all of those experiences with,” Vanessa told Shape. Despite their split, the two remain close friends and Zac even visits her on the set of her new movie, “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island.

She also credits Zac with helping her maintain a down-to-earth personality. “The relationship kept me grounded, and because I was with someone who knew me so well, I didn’t need to try to be someone I’m not,” she explained. Their friendship seems to be filled with only fond memories of the past for the starlet.
“It was a good thing,” she told the mag.
