Labour situation borders on madness

The current labour situation borders on madness. The grandiose delusions, or delusions of grandeur, of these union leaders are dangerous for all of T&T. The US is currently facing a debt crisis that would, undoubtedly, lead to a further devaluation of the US dollar on the world market. Since the TT dollar is incestuously tied to the US dollar, our economic woes will delay further growth.

These same unions that pro-tested the proposed property tax now expect the Government to make money appear from no-where to feed their greed. Countries worldwide are fighting their economic downturns by belt-tightening and austerity measures, but in T&T union leaders want more than five per cent in an economy where growth is crawling and staggering. The main driver of our economy—construction—has paused and created the byproducts—unemployment and crime—but union leaders want to shut down the country to prove that their greed exceeds their need.

Madness.
