Woodbrook intersection a safety hazard, Mr Mayor

Open letter to Port-of-Spain Mayor Louis Lee Sing: There is an intersection in Woodbrook—the corner of Rosalino and Warren Streets—that has become a safety hazard and requires your attention. Firstly, the decision to make the intersection a “double major road” by painting white “stop” lines on each street is not working, mainly because the lines are not visible due to wear and erosion. Secondly, the “stop at major road” sign (as is the case with many of our road signs) is not strategically located. You know Trinis, Mr Mayor, it has to be an “in your face” big sign for some of them to see it. I suggest that apart from repainting the white lines periodically, you put a flashing “stop” sign overhanging the corner of the street designated to be the minor street. This intersection has had several collisions and will continue to have if something is not done ASAP. Maybe your traffic plan has taken this intersection into account. If not then you may need to go back to the drawing board.
