Congrats West Indies, now prepare for England
Please allow me to congratulate the West Indies Test cricket team for the remarkable grit and determination that they displayed in coming to within seven balls of drawing the recently concluded Test series vs Pakistan.
We the people of the Caribbean have every reason to be proud of you! It is now time to embrace Shannon Gabriel and rebuild his clearly battered and bruised self esteem and not destroy such a bright bowling prospect with our mouths.
Gabriel and the rest of the team greatly out performed the expectations of many and the are worthy of notable mention.
This is clearly the case with Roston Chase who carried the team’s batting like Atlas of old and must now be ranked among the top all rounders in the world. His Test batting average is now approximately 49, he takes vital wickets and is also excellent in the field.
However, there is always room for improvement. The great experiment in the top order of the batting line up is over and it has shown that Kieron Powell, Shimron Hetmeyer and Vishaul Singh are clearly not yet ready for the grand stage.
They must now be given time to go back to the drawing board and work on their batting. It must be remembered that England is coming and we must now prepare well for them!
If I know anything about the English it is that as a proud people they are coming to the West Indies to repay us in kind for the hiding we gave to them in the T20 world cup finals with millions watching.
In order to give a good account of ourselves we must select our best test team. This is my opinion of what that team should look like: 1. Kraigg Braithwaite 2. Evin Lewis 3. Shai Hope 4. Roston Chase 5 Jason Mohammed 6. Jermaine Blackwood 7. Shane Dowrich 8. Jason Holder 9. Davendra Bishoo 10. Alzarri Joseph 11. Shannon Gabriel 12. Shimron Hetmeyer 13. Vishaul Singh.
