Mastana Bahar showing growth but no development
There are lots of cases where we have growth without development in various organisations. However, it is a disappointing factor that there are not many forefronts for small and talented artistes to be highlighted in T&T. One such organisation where there is growth without development is our very own Mastana Bahar. For the past four decades, nothing has changed in Mastana Bahar; everything remains predictable:
• Judges who can’t sing and know nothing about singing.
• Judges who do not know the Hindi language.
• Judges who judge an artiste because of social rank and not based on performance.
• Judges who can’t publicise detailed points for an artiste as compared with Digicel Rising Stars or Sa Re Ga Ma Pa.
Mastana Bahar will live on but the organisers need to grow from an ancient, suppressed and uncivilised way to a more publicly acceptable and grand, civilised, conscious way of judging. I happen to be one of the judges on the panel last year, and I congratulate all the small, talented artistes who suffered because of backward judging.
