Ministry of Local Govt begins vacation employment
Young people from various tertiary educational institutions across the country are participating in the Ministry of Local Government’s annual Vacation Employment Programme, which began on June 22 and will run until the end of August. At the launch of the programme at the Ministry’s Kent House offices, Minister of State in the Ministry of Local Government Rudranath Indarsingh said: “I want to commend each of you on your academic achievements. This programme is an opportunity to expose you, the future workers of this country, to the world of work and to service to the country. “Here, you will have the opportunity to apply what you are learning in your educational institutions to the working environment for the benefit of both the organisation and the people of Trinidad and Tobago.” Students from the University of the West Indies, College of Science, Technology and Applied Arts of Trinidad and Tobago (Costaatt), Roytec, University of the Southern Caribbean and University of Trinidad and Tobago, will be involved in the day-to-day operations of the Ministry as well as the 14 municipal corporations as part of the programme.
