The Trinidad and Tobago Red Cross Society (TTRCS) is working closely with the Ministry of the People and Social Development, ODPM and the Diego Martin Regional Corporation to provide food, supplies and assistance to those most affected by this weekend’s rain and flooding. Citizens and corporate T&T are also lending their support. A release from TTRCS said several companies have already launched staff appeals for the provision of clothing, food items and supplies to affected people. Others have partnered with the TTRCS to supply goods and services in support of the recovery efforts, including Unilever, Flow, and Hand Arnold.

The telecommunications provider Digicel has activated a Text to Donate platform on behalf of the TTRCS Disaster Relief Fund. In addition to the thousands of people who have already lent assistance to their friends, neighbours and communities, numerous citizens have volunteered to directly assist the TTRCS with all its ongoing disaster relief activities. Those who are unable to physically assist can make donations of canned food and supplies, which the TTRCS will distribute in concert with the Ministry and the Regional Corporation. Contributions to the TTRCS Disaster Relief Fund can be made via Digicel’s mobile network, text to 2671 and deposits to any Republic Bank, Account No—  180466501801.
