Baptist priest in court on buggering charge
A Spiritual Baptist high priest appeared in court yesterday charged with buggering a 12-year-old boy.
Marvin Davis, 35, of Richplain Road, Diego Martin, appeared before Magistrate Maureen Baboolal-Gafoor in the Port-of-Spain Seventh Court. Davis is alleged to have committed the offences against the minor between August 1 to 31 2009. Davis was represented by attorney Nicole Basraj.
Basraj told the court her client had been a member of the Spiritual Baptist faith for over 17 years and had no previous convictions or pending matters before the courts. He was remanded into custody until tracing could be done to ascertain whether he had any pending or previous convictions. He is to reappear today before the same magistrate for continuation of a bail hearing.
