Bharath acts in Trade Ministry

 Acting President Timothy Hamel-Smith has this week made a series of acting appointments of government ministers. 

These appointments were made on the advice of Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar in accordance with subsection (2) of section 79 of the Constitution.

Housing and Environment Minister Dr Roodal Moonilal is acting as Minister of Foreign Affairs and Communications with immediate effect and continuing during the absence from Trinidad and Tobago of Dr Surujrattan Rambachan. 

Food Production Minister Vasant Bharath, a Senator, is acting as Trade and Industry Minister. That appointment took effect yesterday and will continue during the absence from the country of Stephen Cadiz. 

Also with effect from yesterday, Community Development Minister Nizam Baksh is acting as Minister of the Arts and Multiculturalism while Winston Peters is out of the country.

Finance Minister Winston Dookeran will act as Minister of Planning and the Economy during the absence of Dr Bhoendradatt Tewarie. That appointment takes effect from today.
