Up to late yesterday, Central Division police were involved in a search for a Chinese national who was kidnapped by bandits while making deliveries. Reports are sketchy but police said that around 10 am the victim, who is believed to be in his early 30’s, had just finished dropping off items at a business place in Claxton Bay.

Upon returning to his van, two armed bandits who had just completed robbery at a house nearby, rushed to his vehicle and bundled him into the back of the vehicle and drove off. Eyewitnesses contacted the Couva Police Station and officers responded and interviewed several persons. Searches through central and south Trinidad were unsuccessful. Investigators believe the kidnapping may have been a matter of  the “wrong place, wrong time.”
