No arrests yet in Ramischand murder
No arrests have been made so far in connection with the murder of Nikita Ramischand. This was stated yesterday by public information officer of the Police Service Sgt Wayne Mystar. He was speaking at yesterday’s daily news briefing at the Police Administration Building in Port-of-Spain.
Ramischand, 18, was stabbed to death at her family’s home at Maracas Royal Road, St Joseph on April 25. She was an accounts student at the School of Business and Computer Science, Champs Fleurs. Investigating officers believe she was killed by a jilted lover who is Guyanese and is reported to be hiding out in his homeland.
“No suspects are in custody and the Trinidad and Tobago police officers and the Guyanese police are working closely to get some leads,” Mystar said. Last week detectives went to an apartment in Felicity where the suspect lived but did not discover any clues to his whereabouts. They also interviewed several people in the community, including the landlord.
