Three unidentified fishermen were taken to hospital last night after being shot by a gunman at the Trinidad Cement Ltd port at Claxton Bay. TCL Estate Constable Lalchan said he heard nine shots while on duty at the plant shortly after 5 pm. He said he ran to the scene and saw two men lying in a boat and a third man on the ground. St Margaret’s police were contacted and arrived on the scene minutes later with an ambulance. The injured men were taken to hospital. A witness said he saw a man wearing a white T-shirt and short pants running from the scene along St John’s Road and entering a waiting vehicle. The area was later cordoned off. Officers from St Margaret’s and Couva police stations are investigating the shooting.
