Eight held in Northern Division exercises
Police exercises across the Northern Division between Thursday and Friday resulted in eight people being arrested for narcotics possession, while two guns and three kilos of marijuana were recovered. During 6 am and 10 pm on Thursday, a total of 75 fixed-penalty notices were issued for various traffic violations during road traffic exercises conducted in several areas in the Northern Division.
The exercises were co-ordinated by ACP Terry Young and spearheaded by Snr Supt David Abraham. Between 1.30 pm and 5 pm on Friday, officers of the North Eastern Division Task Force including Sgt Roger Alexander, Cpl Sunil Bharath and WPC Hammond carried out an exercise at Lloyd Street, Sunshine Avenue, San Juan, and recovered two pump-action shotguns.
A short while later, the officers went to a house at Upper Seventh Avenue, Malick, Barataria, and recovered three kilos of marijuana. No one was arrested in connection with the two incidents.
