1 dead, another warded after two shootings

Investigations have begun into two shootings in South and Central over the weekend, leaving one man dead and another in stable condition at the San Fernando General Hospital. On Sunday night around 9.15 pm, Adrian Adams, 20, of Lewis Street, Mac Bean, Couva, was shot three times while liming at a basketball court near his home, according to police reports. Adams died on the spot after receiving two gunshot wounds to his stomach and one to his left arm. Two suspects are being sought in the matter. Police said although there are rumours that the shooting was drug related, they cpuld not confirm that information.

 

Adams was described by his father as quiet and easy-going. He was said to have attended a wake with his uncle on Sunday night before he was dropped at the basketball court. Adams is said to have had an altercation with his attackers before trying to escape through a friend’s backyard when he was shot. Adams’s autopsy will be carried out tomorrow. In a second incident in Marabella, Kevin Stewart, of Union Park, was shot twice in his upper and lower arm after a dispute about money. Police said around 1 pm yesterday Stewart was approached by a man he knew, who accosted him after which he drew a firearm and shot Stewart twice. The suspect has not been held but a woman is assisting police with the investigations. Police suspect this matter was drug related.
