Navigate fetes, find your band
D'Junction Mobile Application was introduced into T&T's entertainment space in 2016 and has cemented its place as a revolutionary portal, bringing Carnival and events into the digital age.
The first and only “app” of its kind, D’Junction provides a user-friendly, reliable and modern platform for Carnival enthusiasts to solve the age-old problem of locating their bands “on the road” during Carnival Monday and Tuesday. Year after year, masqueraders have complained of time and energy lost in trekking all over the town, hoping to catch their band.
D’Junction was the technological solution that spectators and mas players alike had been waiting for, at no cost and at their convenience via their smart phones.
The app, available for download by both android and iOS devices, is the brainchild of Ria Karim, business management consultant, who is the innovator and entrepreneur behind the app. Karim partnered with the Gillette Group, involved in local and regional technology and entertainment, to create D’Junction, and together they have developed and grown, right here in T&T, an innovative solution that promises to take our culture and Carnival to new global heights well into the future.
In its debut year, D’Junction featured seven participating bands across T&T. "News of the app spread rapidly and organically, and D’Junction became a viral sensation and immediate success," Karim said.
Post Carnival 2016, a “Fetes” feature was introduced to provide ongoing, up-to-date information about upcoming parties and events. In 2017, the app featured a fresh new look, information on fetes leading up to Carnival and exciting partnerships with the largest bands in the country.
Late last year, D’Junction partnered with Lime.tt to bring their photos to users directly through D’Junction.
"This pivotal integration allows users to access Lime.tt entertainment content in one central application on their mobile devices," Karim said.
"The application is indeed a game changer and continues to grow and evolve to include features which make it an invaluable, central entertainment resource for users worldwide, year round, who are interested in living life the 'Trini way!' ”
For Carnival 2018, D’Junction is powered by bMobile and the band tracking feature is also supported by the National Carnival Commission (NCC).
"Close to 20 mas and J’Ouvert bands across the country will be featured on the app, making this the biggest year yet," Karim said.
In addition, local and international users have been actively utilizing the app to navigate the ongoing fetes and events, making it a critical innovation for the execution and promotion of our national festival in the digital age.
