A 67-old-year man drowned at Maracas Bay yesterday amid warnings from the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS) that there will be rough seas for the entire Carnival period.

Dead is Renald Ambrose.

According to reports Ambrose drowned around 9 am while swimming at the beach opposite the popular Uncle Sam’s Bar in Maracas.

Officers from the Maracas Bay Police Station responded to the incident.

Around noon yesterday the TTMS issued a rough seas bulletin stating that waves, with heights reaching more than eleven feet, would be occurring along Trinidad and Tobago’s exposed Northern and Eastern coastlines.

The TTMS also warned that choppy conditions would be experienced in sheltered areas.

Wave heights are forecast to become less than eleven feet by late Ash Wednesday.

“Sea conditions continue to be rough, with wave heights reaching up to 3.5m along the exposed northern and eastern coastlines, and occasionally choppy in sheltered areas,” the bulletin issued by meteorologist Anton Wiltshire states yesterday.
