U-17 water polo teams go under again
T&T’s boys’ and girls’ Under-17 water polo teams remained winless after two days of competition at the 27th Central American and Caribbean Swimming Confederation (CCCAN) Championships in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico. After losing its opener to host 13-8 on Tuesday, the local boys’ team went under to Mexico 11-13 on Wednesday night and faced the same team yesterday in the lone semifinal.
The winner faces Puerto Rico for gold while the loser gets bronze. Likewise, the local girls team was beaten 19-4 by their Mexican rivals after losing to Puerto Rico, 13-10. Yesterday, the T&T girls also faced Mexico in the semifinals. Puerto Rico ended the round-robin series with perfect records after its boys’ team beat Mexico 16-4 and the girls’ edged Mexico 7-5 on Monday.
