Nettoyer stops Unquestionable

Former champion jockey Brian Harding showed why he was the top rider in this country for many years, when he gave the Laurence-owned Nettoyer  an inspired ride, to win yesterday’s feature Santa Rosa Classic over 1,200 metres on the main track at Santa Rosa Park, Arima. In the process, the gelded Nettoyer gained his revenge on his Easter Guineas conqueror  Unquestionable. Harriram Gobin must have been a happy man as Harding brought Nettoyer from last to first to take the first prize cheque of $60,000. The Shaffique Khan-trained chestnut gelding was sent off as the 6/5 favourite. Make the Easter Guineas winner Unquestionable my best bet today when he returns to action in the feature Grade II -Santa Rosa Classic over 1200 metres on the main track at Santa Rosa Park, Arima. The Shaffick Khan-trained Unquestionable has improved with every start and will no doubt have improved after his success in the Guineas.  Unquestionable will go after his second win in as many starts and looks set to land the $60,000 first prize cheque. 

 

From the off, Dazzlin was first to show from Honour The Lady and  Lady Angelia with Winning Ticket and Unquestionable in contention. These were followed by It Got To Be Me, with Prince Shiv and Nettoyer. Going to the far turn, Honour the Lady took up the running as Unquestionable moved menacingly into second with It Got To Be Me in third. However, with 500 metres to race the complexion of the race changed as Unquestionable joined the leader as It Got To Be Me got a run up the rail with Nettoyuer making his run at the leaders. With 300 metres left, Nettoyer was in full flight and he fairly blew past It Got To Be Me and Unquestionable who faded to finish in third spot.

Nettoyer, scored by 1 1/4 lengths with It Got To Be Me second. Nettoyer recorded the time of 1:13.2 for the trip. No jockey or trainer was able to land more than one winner.

Racing continues next Saturday at Santa Rosa Park.
