WICB hopes to find new CEO quickly

ST JOHN’S, Antigua – The West Indies Cricket Board said on Monday it hoped to have a new chief executive in place before current CEO Ernest Hilaire vacated his post in September. CMC Sports reported last week that Hilaire, who has held the post for the last three years, was leaving cricket’s regional governing body to take up a post as St Lucia’s new Ambassador in London. The Board said it was currently in the process of recruiting for Hilaire’s replacement. “It is expected that the new CEO will be engaged in an appropriate capacity before Dr Hilaire finally demits office,” a board statement said.
 
 
Hilaire, informed WICB directors in April this year he would not be renewing his three-year contract when it ended in October. The board statement said that while directors regretted his decision, they were fully supportive “for his desires to pursue other professional opportunities available to him.” Hilaire, who holds a doctorate from the London School of Economics and degrees from the University of the West Indies (UWI) and Cambridge, took over as CEO of the WICB in September 2009 in place of Donald Peters. He was formerly CEO of Cricket World Cup, St Lucia Inc during the 2007 showpiece staged in the Caribbean. (CMC)
