U-20s meet Guyana in CFU opener

T&T Under-20 footballers will kick off their Caribbean Football Union Group Four qualifiers  for the Concacaf Under-20 Championship Final against Guyana on August 8. The match between T&T’s young Soca Warriors and the Golden Jaguars will start at 5.30 pm and will be the first of a double-header at Victoria Park, Kingstown, St Vincent and the Grenadines. Two hours later in the night’s feature clash, the host battles Suriname. The T&T squad currently under training with head coach Michael Mc Commie will also face Suriname on August 10 (5.30 pm) and the host two days later from 7.30 pm. McComie and his staff, which includes Anthony Rougier, Clint Marcelle and Ross Russell, have a squad of 22 players in training. The team includes ex Under-17 captain Duane Muckette, Shackiel Henry, Xavier Rajpaul, Quesi Weston, Damani Richards and Marcus Gomez.

 
 
In the first qualifying series Puerto Rico will host Barbados, Bermuda and Haiti from July 25 - 29 in Group Three in Mayaguez. 
Group Two in San Cristobal, Dominican Republic, involving Cuba, Aruba and St Kitts/Nevis will be played July 26-30. 
Group One is carded for Antigua & Barbuda with Grenada, Curacao and Dominica and will be played simultaneously with Group Four, August 8-12. The four group winners along with the best runner-up will advance to a final round of qualifying with host Jamaica in November 3-11. Five of the six teams from the final round of Caribbean qualifying will advance to the Concacaf championship in Puebla, Mexico, February 18-March 2. From the Concacaf 12-nation final four will qualify for the Fifa Under-20 World Cup in Turkey. Mexico, Canada and USA are automatic qualifiers to the Concacaf final round.
