Spring fling

The fashion runways from Milan and Paris to New York are where the trends for makeup of the season are established and what we, the rest of the world look on with bated breath and strive to copy. This spring 2012, backstage featured the rouge red and orange vintage lip colours of a time gone by where one may have found a similar hue sitting in a top drawer of an old vanity. Vintage paired with the modern; almost futuristic super shiny, glittery, highly reflective eye shadows and pigments seem to be making quite a statement on the fashion circuit with metallics such as Fushion Gold, Rusty and Copper which look molten smooth and very luxurious looking on the eyes. The skin however has made an interesting about turn and now looks hydrated, perfect, real and natural, a fresh breakaway from the matte, full coverage extreme we have come to request and accept as a makeup norm and ideal.

Luminous faces with sun kissed cheeks make quite a becoming backdrop for these amazing pops of colour on the eyes or lips (or both if you are daring enough to wear) Lightweight foundations like Matchmaster Foundation in SPF 15 mixed with a single drop of essential oil or Prep + Prime Moisture Boost serves to thin down the foundation to a sheer veil of coverage that looks totally natural and totally flawless at the same time. For this season anyway, gone are the perfectly structured eyebrows, heavily contoured, full coverage, matte skin. This refreshing switch to skin that looks absolutely alive and full of dimension takes a load off our focus on perfection and sets our sights on fresh, clean, luminous skin. Focus must be placed on skin exfoliation, rich moisturizers and consuming lots of H20.  Remember your skin needs to shine this season, so love the skin you are in!
